Does Foremate require an internet connection?
No. Foremate is designed as an offline-first application. All core features -- including the AI-powered knowledge base, nameplate OCR, and ServiceLog -- work entirely without an internet connection. Your data is stored and processed locally on your device.
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored exclusively on your device. Foremate does not upload any information to cloud servers. Your PDF documents, client records, service history, and OCR results remain on your phone or tablet at all times.
How do I import PDF manuals?
Open Foremate and navigate to the Knowledge Base section. Tap the "Import" button and select a PDF from your device's file system, email attachments, or cloud storage apps. Foremate will index the document locally, making it searchable within seconds.
What types of documents can I import?
Foremate supports PDF documents of any size, including technical manuals, installation guides, code books, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins. The AI indexing engine handles documents with hundreds or thousands of pages efficiently.
How does the nameplate OCR feature work?
Point your device's camera at an equipment nameplate and tap "Scan." Foremate uses on-device AI to extract text from the image, including model numbers, serial numbers, specifications, and other technical data. All processing happens locally -- no images are sent to external servers.
Can I transfer my data to a new device?
Yes. Foremate includes a data export feature that creates a backup file you can transfer to a new device. On iOS, your data may also be included in iCloud backups. On Android, it may be included in Google backup, depending on your device settings.
Is Foremate available for both iOS and Android?
Yes. Foremate is available on both the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). Both versions offer the same full set of features.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual records, documents, or clients at any time within the App. To remove all data, use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings, or simply uninstall the App. Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling removes everything.
